Origin

I grew up a fan first. Tennis was always on in the background, courtesy of my father, and it looked beautiful to me before I understood why. I went to three of the four majors before I ever picked up a racket.

Then, well into adulthood, I picked one up. A fitness habit already in place — what I didn't expect was how fast tennis would become The Thing. Clinics, lessons, hours with the wall — chasing fitness, skill, community, and fun, all at once. I never thought I would become one of those people who waited in line at the court. But the line was where I ran into my people, and somewhere in there, without meaning to, I became one of them.

Along the way, I noticed something missing: apparel that didn't feel like gym clothes, that worked on court and off, all over the city. Apparel that made me feel like a tennis player, not a runner. Cut with room to move, polish and attitude. Something made for the court and everything after. Something in honor of New York City players. I thought it would be fun to build it.
